After having tested this camera only once, I had come to the conclusion that the camera may be suffering from shutter lag. The Yashica Mat 124G has its own built in light meter which I did not use when testing the camera out. I had made the assumption that the light meter was most likely inoperative and measured my exposures as I usually do. I used different camera settings and shot in a variety of lighting scenarios and yet I […]
The summer has finally arrived and what better way to enjoy it by heading out on the road with a beautiful walk-around beast, the Yashica D. The Yashica D is my favorite medium format camera and for a long time, (about 2 years now), I have been trying to find a second one as a backup. I came close once and I was so put off because although the store owner said he would put it aside for me for […]
I was hoping that the weekend would pull through without any rain and it did… well at least for the time that we were out. My friend Randy and I had decided to head out East and we did find a few interesting things to photograph. I did not really have a specific focus this time, but being out in the sun with a camera in my hand felt so good. As always, I always bring along my […]
I worked my way into testing out the Yashica D with the #1 and #2 close-up lens and I am loving it. It is not only being able to come in close that is cool, the range of play with depth of field has become more interesting. Images taken with Close-up lens #1: Images taken with Close-up lens #2: I will continue to test with both close up lenses with some new work.
I finally had the chance to set up my darkroom and dive into printing over the holidays. I have set a goal to do more printing this year and to print big! The Yashica D is my favorite medium format camera to use and having obtained a few close up lenses has made my love for it even stronger. I love coming in close to my subjects and so this just makes it even more fun. There were a few […]
I had a disappointing day today. I had a booked shoot at 12;30 and it was a no-show. No phone call, no message…nothing. So I decided to post another image from a set I had taken a few weeks ago. I have been testing with Ilfords FP4 Plus film. I think I really like this one. I shot this using the self timer with my Yashica D and natural light.. I would love to know your thoughts! I processed the […]
